About the event
Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with us and paint your very own sun & moon still life inspired by the works of renowned Mexican painter Frida Kahlo (1907-1954)!
Known for her exquisite portraits and surrealist ruminations on her life, Kahlo’s experiments with more textural processes later in her life are less well-known. In conversation with her recurrent sun and moon motifs and beautiful still-lifes, we will recreate a version of her Congreso de los pueblos por la paz (People’s Congress for Peace) still life which includes many symbols and images from her grand oeuvre.
Join our curator and resident art historian Kelly Cook for an evening exploring texture, bold colors, and mystical symbolism and a mini-lesson in Mexican Surrealism!

This workshop is inspired by the following works by Frida Kahlo!
