About the event
Celebrate our Wonderland exhibition with us and paint your own version of the gloriously Fauvist Open Window by French painter Henri Mattise (1869-1954)!
Fauvism was a brief yet shining period of art characterized by fierce brushstrokes and vivid colors, and Open Window was created at the onset of this period. Known for his expressive use of color, nature inspired-works and evolving style, Matisse has become celebrated as a leading figure of modern art.
Join our curator and resident art historian Kelly Cook for an evening of playing with bright colors, bold textures and a mini-lesson in French art history celebrating the wondrous world of Matisse!
