Jiamin Zhu: Secret Garden

You are invited to join us for the opening of local artist Jiamin Zhu's photography exhibition Jiamin Zhu: Secret Garden. Zhu uses digital photography and distinctive post-processing techniques to create whimsical images that blend reality with imagination, transforming human subjects into enchanting, magical creatures from another realm. Zhu describes her creative process as both experiment and therapy, and challenges herself to look more deeply into otherwise ordinary portraits to uncover alternative stores. By embracing playful and outlandish editing palettes, she approaches each image as an open-ended inquiry, tapping into her inner child to experiment in a way that mirrors life itself.

Live Music with Theresa Redmond

Theresa Redmond is a Seattle-based singer, composer, songwriter, and piano player with a bachelor's degree in vocal performance and a Master of Music in film scoring. Redmond entered the singer/songwriter scene as the backup singer for the Michigan soul-pop band, August, and since moving to Seattle has been performing her original indie-pop music both as a solo artist and with her band Ten Stories Down. She also performed as a harmony singer and keyboard/synth player for Black Bird Collective, a local indie-rock band. Redmond's songs share her life experiences through meaningful lyrics and colorful arrangements. She is always looking for new pathways with her music, sometimes dabbling outside of tonality and letting the music shape freely into its final form.
