Two Hour WorkshopÂ
Seattle based artist Hee Seo will lead participants through traditional Korean watercolor techniques on HanJi (traditional Korean paper) with a wood canvas. Participants in the workshop will each have the opportunity to create their own artwork using the techniques taught in the workshop, such as layering of colors and creating smooth color transitions.Â
This is an excellent opportunity to explore a new media technique, expand your knowledge, and get to know fellow curious creatives. All experience levels are welcome.
Instructor:Â
Hee Seo is a Seattle-based artist originally from Korea. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Korean painting from Kyung-gi University and has been active in modern and abstract painting for over a decade. In addition to recreating her own art, Hee Seo also shares her passion by teaching Korean folk painting (Minhwa) classes at her studio. Her artworks can be seen on instagram at hee.seo7948
Artist statement:
My artistic journey is deeply intertwined with the portrayal of abandoned dogs, their melancholy expressions captured through layers of vibrant hues on traditional Korean paper. In depicting their sorrow, I paradoxically find joy. In my recent painting, I seek to celebrate the inherent joy of animal drawing, inspiration from the rich symbolism of happiness in Korean folk art.
