KyoungMug Park

Korean, b. 1981

KyoungMug Park is a contemporary artist based in Seoul, South Korea. Park is known for his thought provoking and elegant traditional Korean ink paintings on hanji, which meditate on form, time, space, inner emotions and the symbolic vocabulary of the universe.

Park draws inspiration from his interactions with people, and reflecting back on himself in relation to the universe and nature around us. Despite using the traditional mediums of Korean ink and hanji, Park does not define his work as traditional, often experimenting with more contemporary materials such as acrylic paint or canvas.

He seeks to express himself through improvised yet concise images with soft, implicitly emotional touches, touching peoples hearts through a combination of traditional beauty and contemporary painting techniques.
