Korean Rhapsody: Sijo is presented by Gallery B612 as part of Korean Cultural Week 2026 during Seattle Art Fair Week, with support from the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Seattle.

Drawing inspiration from sijo, a traditional Korean poetic form that emerged in the late Goryeo Dynasty in the 14th century, the exhibition explores the enduring relevance of Korean literary and artistic traditions within contemporary visual culture. Known for its concise three-line structure, sijo distills emotion, nature, and philosophical reflection into a refined and disciplined form. This poetic framework informs the curatorial direction of the exhibition, with each artwork reflecting moments of tension, expansion, and resolution that echo the internal rhythm of sijo.

Through ink, hanji, brushwork, texture, and mixed media, participating artists MiYoung Margolis, KyoungMug Park, and YoungHwa Choi engage with traditional Korean aesthetics while presenting new interpretations through contemporary visual language. Their works examine the relationship between poetry and image, gesture and material, memory and transformation.

Presented within the international context of Seattle Art Fair, Korean Rhapsody: Sijo offers audiences an opportunity to encounter Korean cultural heritage as a dynamic and evolving artistic tradition.
